My name is Robert. Last week I received a new Asus notebook computer. I always check to see if there is any suspicious software. Privoxy came up with a ? And after taking to Microsoft, Asus and Newegg found that it was not install by any of them. I tried to uninstall it and my new computer has been a nightmare for 4 days because I was trying to get my internet back. I still do not have it and I need it desperately to work. Please tell me how to fix this incredibly frustrating software by helping me. Thank you for responding quickly or I will be forced to talk to the BBB. I am sorry but do not what else to do.

In the past, several persons have reported that Asus hardware came with
a "Parental Control" suite that was based on Privoxy but caused problems
one wouldn't get with an official Privoxy version.

It's possible that the Asus person you spoke to is unaware of this.

For details see:
http://www.privoxy.org/faq/misc.html#SURPRISE-PRIVOXY
http://sourceforge.net/p/ijbswa/bugs/813/

Instead of wasting time trying to fix this yourself I'd recommend that
you return the system and let whomever sold it take care of the problem.

Talking to the BBB (and maybe even a lawyer) probably wouldn't hurt either.
